Copacabana Community Association has submitted plans to Central Coast Council to establish a permanent memorial.
The memorial will be on the open grassed area alongside the Copacabana Surf Life Saving Club which is Council-managed Crown land.
The site backs onto the Pacific Ocean and slopes from Del Monte Pl to the beach.
There will be feature rocks set on stone with a memorial plaque fitted to a smaller feature rock at the front and flanked by two flagpoles.
Significant local controversy has occurred in relation to previous memorials on the site.
sounds like a great idea and perfect spot. Will the community association be stuck with the bill for this or is there a allocation of funding that could be used to help?
The Copacabana Community Association has applied for funding through the Salute to the Service ,via the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Be great if story mentioned what the memorial was for, but I guess that’s to much trouble
